Purpose: The Data Visualization Interest Group (DVIG) champions the transformative power of data visualization in art education across K–12 and higher education.
Our work is driven by THREE key aims:
To ignite new possibilities for integrating data visualization into teaching practices and curriculum design, nurturing students’ inference, reasoning, and creative thinking skills in vibrant studio environments.
To push the boundaries of how data visualization can be used as a critical tool for analyzing, questioning, and presenting research, while amplifying educational advocacy through meaningful, student-centered approaches; and
To lead innovative theoretical and practice-based research that deepens our understanding of the educational and knowledge-building potential of arts-based data visualization, enriching and expanding the studio experience through powerful visual communication and meaning-making practices.
