Purpose: The Data Visualization Interest Group (DVIG) champions the transformative power of data visualization in art education across K–12 and higher education.
Our work is driven by THREE key aims:
- To ignite new possibilities for integrating data visualization into teaching practices and curriculum design, nurturing students’ inference, reasoning, and creative thinking skills in vibrant studio environments.
- To push the boundaries of how data visualization can be used as a critical tool for analyzing, questioning, and presenting research, while amplifying educational advocacy through meaningful, student-centered approaches; and
- To lead innovative theoretical and practice-based research that deepens our understanding of the educational and knowledge-building potential of arts-based data visualization, enriching and expanding the studio experience through powerful visual communication and meaning-making practices.
